If you happen to experience an issue where a screen gets “stuck/frozen” you can first try a soft reboot, then if this does not work, try a hard reset.

1) Soft Reboot: A normal reboot of the device, done by pressing-holding the round home button, then pressing the sleep/wake button, and sliding to power off, then power back on.

2) Hard Reset: Press hold the round home button and the sleep/wake button simultaneously. Continue holding both buttons (ignore the slide to power off display) until the iPhone shuts off and begins to restart. You can let go when you see the silver apple logo, and please wait until it returns to the main screen.

With the new iOS 5, there is an automatic iCloud backup option for Apps. All Apps can be backed up to iOS iCloud when your device is charging AND this option is turned ON for each app/content that you want to include in the backup.

Please make sure to select iXpenseIt as part of this nightly backup. You can go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage > tap on your Device > a list of your apps will appear under Back Options, so check ON for iXpenseIt.

The above is also described at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 (Apple Knowledge Base).

NOTE: Please note that iCloud sync currently is limited to a single iTunes account.

***As a sidenote, iXpenseIt does also have it’s own easy Email Backup which only takes less than a minute to export an encrypted full backup file of iXpenseIt data by going to Settings > Backup, Restore, Import > Email Backup. As a double backup method, we also recommend doing this occasionally, especially before iOS upgrades or app updates.***

In general ,we highly recommend out users to use Numbers or OpenOffice when editing their iXpenseIt-formatted .CSV file for import. MS Excel, not only in the case of iXpenseIt .CSV files, tends to shed off or change some of the original formatting of the file making it cause errors upon the import process.

That said, you can also try the import workaround below for users that do have MS Office spreadsheet.

1) Create a table in MS Access database (.mdb) with the column field names (Date,Type,Category,Subcategory,Vendor,Payment,Currency,Amount,Note) that correspond to the original iXpenseIt-exported .CSV.

2) Set up all fields as Text.

3) Copy-paste records you are trying to import (should be in the keyword columns as noted in step 1) from the MS Excel into the table.

4) Export the MS Access table as xxx.txt then rename the extension to .csv.

5) Open this in a simple text editor such as Notepad or TextEdit, and remove the quote marks from the field names, then Save.

6) Import the file by going to iXpenseIt > Backup, Restore, Import > Import. Please make sure both your computer and iPhone are using the same Wi-Fi network connection.

With the upgrade to iOS5, one of the enhancements with this iOS version was to make the push notifications (which includes the Daily Reminders and Upcoming Reminders for iXpenseIt) less obvious for users who prefer.

You can go to:

1) Your iPhone’s Settings > Notifications > under “In Notification Center” (or “Not In Notification Center” if you can’t find it there) look for iXpenseIt and tap on it

2) First, make sure the Notification Center switch is ON. Then, you can select the alert style, please select either Banner or Alerts (Alerts would be the one same as the pre-iOS5, like a message box.) You also have other options, like having sound, badge app icon next to the notification, and also having the notification appear on the lock screen, and when it is slid, it launches the app.

If you have already purchased and downloaded iXpenseIt from the App Store, and you have also purchased one of the PDF Templates from the In-App purchase using the same Apple ID previously, the PDF template is usable as many times as you need so a successful re-install of the template you downloaded previously will not be charged.

You may get a message prompt to BUY Now when you want to Send Email/AirPrint the PDF reports, but in this case you can just tap Buy Now, and next you will get a message prompt that it is free because you have already purchased the template. (Similar to when redownloading paid apps from the App Store, as long as the same iTunes ID is used.)

———————————————————–

On the other hand, if the issue may be something that is occurring even before your initial purchase for of the PDF Template, such as you get a message that says “you must purchase the app before buying the template?” In this case, we can suggest another way:

1) If you already entered any data in iXpenseIt, please first go to iXpenseIt’s Settings > Backup, Restore, Import > Email Backup > send yourself a .fyi backup file. If you have iOS 4.0 or over, restoring is easier if you make the recipient address one of the email accounts you have on your iPhone’s Mail app.

2) After you make the Email Backup, you can delete iXpenseIt from your device, and redownload it from the App Store. Please use the same iTunes ID as when initially purchasing the app, so the redownload is free.

3) Next, if you have iOS 4.0 or higher, you can just go to your iPhone’s Mail > find the email with the ,fyi backup file > download the .fyi file > after download, tap the grey/blue iXpenseIt icon on its left to start the Restore process of data into the new iXpenseIt.

(As a sidenote, for users with iOS lower than 4.0, please first download the .fyi backup file to your local computer. Then, make sure your iPhone and computer is using the SAME Wi-Fi network. Then, go to iXpenseIt’s Settings > Backup, Restore, Import > tap Restore. Enter the http address shown into your computer’s web browser, choose the .fyi file, then Upload to restore.)

After this, please try purchasing the PDF Template again, using the same Apple ID. If you were actually successful in the purchase previously, this second try will be free. If you were not able to last time, then you should be able to purchase the template this time after the app re-download.
